Aqua therapy
(previously known as hydrotherapy)

Aqua Therapy can be used for musculoskeletal pain and injury rehabilitation, general strengthening and mobilising, post operative rehab, rheumatology conditions and chronic pain.

Aqua Therapy utilises the warm water (32-36 degrees) to help muscles relax, reduce the load through your joints and can be used as either support to aid a movement or resistance to make a movement more difficult.

We use Aqua Therapy when land based exercises prove too painful or difficult. The water helps reduce pain, increase joint range of movement, help improve mobility and to strengthen muscles. Aqua Therapy can speed up rehabilitation post injury, getting you moving quicker than we could on land.

The pool (School of Dolphins) is located in Bighton, in a beautiful private countryside setting. We have private use of the pool which is kept very clean and tidy, with all the correct chemical tests completed daily. There is ample parking and changing rooms and showers if needed. We do ask the clients are safe on stairs as there are shallow steps to get in and out of the pool, with no hand rail. The pool has a shallow end with a hand rail and then gradually deepens.

Sophie zahra

Sports therapist

Sophie is our sports therapist who graduated from the University of Chichester and has been working with us for over a year now. Sophie enjoys using Aqua Therapy for a range of clients, from post operative rehabilitation (great for total knee and hip replacements, shoulder,  knee, ankle or back surgery to safely speed up rehabilitation. Aqua therapy is also used for persistent pain and conditions such as fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and similar conditions. The warm water helps the muscles to relax, takes pressure and weight off the joints and allows the body to gently move through a greater range and strengthen against the resistance of the water. Sophie has completed her ATACP accredited course for AquaTherapy. We also run group sessions for clients under our care to go through their water exercises with supervision and less cost.

Please note our Aqua Therapy sessions are for MSK conditions, unfortunately we do not have the relevant equipment to accommodate for higher needs such as neurological conditions (unless you are independently mobile and can get into and out of a pool without assistance).

Please contact us if you require any additional information.
